In short: SpotPrice may earn a commission when you click a dealer link and buy, at no extra cost to you. Dealer links are marked as sponsored links in the page code, and a short note sits next to them.

How this site makes money

SpotPrice is free to use. To pay for it, we may:

Show ads, such as Google AdSense ads. Ads are labeled "Advertisement."
Use affiliate links. Links to dealers such as APMEX, JM Bullion, SD Bullion, Money Metals, Kitco and Bullion Exchanges are, or may become, affiliate links through programs like Awin, Impact and FlexOffers. If you open an account or buy after clicking one, the dealer may pay us a commission or referral fee. This costs you nothing extra, and you can always go to a dealer's site directly instead.

Earning a commission does not change our prices. Estimates are calculated the same way for every item and dealer, and “Best price per ounce” is sorted by price only, whether or not a dealer pays us. Dealers do not pay to be listed (if that ever changes, those spots will be clearly marked "Sponsored").

Estimated prices are not quotes

Estimated prices on the Compare and item pages are calculated from the live spot price plus a typical premium. They are not offers from any dealer, and the real price may be higher or lower. Always confirm the price, fees, shipping and payment terms on the dealer's own website before buying.

Best price per ounce

When it's shown, the home page's “Best price per ounce” section has real listed prices, checked every 2 hours, only from dealers whose website rules allow automated checks, and it names the dealers checked. It is the lowest price among the bars and dealers we check, not a guarantee that nobody sells it for less. Prices change quickly and are set by the dealer at checkout. Spot price data

Spot prices come from a third-party service and may be delayed or occasionally wrong. Don't rely on them for trading.

Not financial advice

Everything on SpotPrice is general information for education. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Gold and silver prices can fall as well as rise. Consider talking with a licensed professional before making financial decisions.

Pictures and fonts

Items are shown as element tiles. Each item appears as a periodic-table style tile for its metal (for example Au for gold, Ag for silver), with the purity, weight and type listed under it. The tiles are not pictures of the product. Product appearance may vary, so check the dealer for actual photos. Purity comes from the product's published specifications; where none is published, we show "Purity: see dealer".
News headlines on the News page and home page come from MINING.COM's RSS feeds (shown with links back, as MINING.COM permits) and from the public-domain press releases of the Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (source: Federal Reserve Board; U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). Headlines belong to their publishers and link to the originals. We show only the headline, source, time and the feed's own short summary, never full articles, images, seals or logos.
